No Prophet is without honour except in his own country. I consider Abdus Salam (1926-1996) a prophet who predicted how things work. He was a prophet who did not predict rivers of blood from Lahore to Karachi on a matter of belief but strictly within scientific inquiry. It surpasses narrow sectarian prejudices and instead opens the door for the benefit of humanity. Abdus Salem made it his life-work. What a noble service than prophets of doom and of ‘nonsense’!
‘AP reports,’The pioneering work of Abdus Salam, Pakistan’s only Nobel laureate, helped lead to the apparent discovery of the subatomic “God particle” last week. But the late physicist is no hero at home, where his name has been stricken from school textbooks.
Praise within Pakistan for Salam, who also guided the early stages of the country’s nuclear program, faded decades ago as Muslim fundamentalists gained power. He belonged to the Ahmadi sect, which has been persecuted by the government and targeted by Taliban militants who view its members as heretics’.
I consider Pakistan a failed state because religion has blinded them. Can anyone think Abdus Salam merits less for his original work than of AQ Khan? Whereas AQ’s fame, unfairly by his own doing, is forever clouded by the nature of his clandestine work.
A country that makes a thief as honorable and gives the saint a rope deserves no attention from civilized communities around the world. Pakistan has a serious credibility problem.
For Salam, not even death saved him from being targeted.
His body was returned to Pakistan in 1996 after he died in Oxford, England, and was buried under a gravestone that read “First Muslim Nobel Laureate.” A local magistrate ordered that the word “Muslim” be erased.
I rest my case.
Higgs Boson will be around even if Pakistan evolves into something else.

F. Scott Fitzgerald’s famous line about the rich: “They are different from you and me.”does not apply to politicans who cadge your votes. They are rich beggars whose offshore accounts, if they are Mormons, can be in three places.
What makes rich different from you and me?
The rich can gold plate their teeth if they want to. The other day the Don of Snazzi-Pazzi family had his teeth capped. Later that year while his feet were capped with block of cement and under water, sharks who came around saw his teeth sparkling and were impressed.’He is my kind of guy’ said they while they dug in.
The rich can miss flights and drop millions and yet say,’I will dip into tax-payer’s money a little more deeper.’ Yes if the poor slobs have been funding my lifestyle and paying for my shenanigan’s I don’t see why should n’t they cover my lapses as well?
The rich can take it easy if the lawyer’s bills are stiff. They can spend a little hush-money and your contract will see the lawyer is laid out stiff instead.
So the rich is all the bad things you can imagine. Only that when you win at Lotto some 356 billions you wont imagine a thing! In that case leave us poor slobs to imagine. At least imagination is free under the sun is it not?
