Why Bring a Cat Home?©
Why bring a cat home, said my dog
When I walk the beat
And wag my tail and fetch your things?
I said, I need slippers and not galoshes
when I open my eyes first thing at dawn.
Because I give you a collar is
No way you holler for a dog tag as well.
But I bring you news of the day,
Fresh with printers ink hardly dry.
By why give it in drips and drabs I ask
For the hundredth time;
I stop thieves and bills , says the dog
Familiar as only man’s best friend can.
But you didn’t see me plead my case
And pay before the judge damages
For all your shenanigans.
I am broke and done for
Cursed by all for your curséd bite-
and the pizza boy swears he shall never
Serve a man whose dog rules the roost.
Oh says my Russel knowing the game is up
Bring home a cat then, I shall sulk
In my doghouse if you ever get a better deal.
