Mysticism:’the expression of the innate tendency of the human spirit towards complete harmony with the transcendental order’. Evelyn Underhill

2.

Sensing divine presence in everyday at a mundane level is more accurate than “union”. But some try harder as Hertz.

3.

Some like St. Teresa of Avila spoke of union with God, and some have visions. Miracles are not necessary part of the equation.

4.

Underhill argues that we should speak of “consciousness” of God’s presence, mysticism I would add as consciousness that works.

5

I consider myself a mystic since I am conscious and experience the presence. Experience of writing the Illustrated Omar Khayyam convinces me. Writing as though fully conscious ahead, of writing through to the end was a joyous experience. Even after reading third time I can discover shades of meaning that I had missed while writing.

6.

Soul must be energized for any satisfying experience to build on the Presence, not necessarily religious but for any positive outcome.

7.

Mysticism is the perception of the universe and all of its seemingly disparate entities are encompassed in a whole entity by love. Perception is more often is achieved by intuition or inspiration.

8.

In mysticism love has such a role it cannot be in physical objects per se but what the Presence may raise altogether to new level.

9.

‘Showing the other cheek’ as Jesus spoke of treating enemies is not about self-love but settling quarrel in altogether new manner.

10.

Taking the anger that struck the blow and showing its inadequacy to restore equipoise is love and it celebrates the presence.

11.

Transcendental order in conduct is as shown by Jesus. Is there not an order sought in thought as well in actions when one settles a quarrel in turning the other cheek though abused? One does it so because it is within his power to achieve order. How enemy wants to follow up by this peaceable action is not his concern.

12.

Mysticism is integrated life experience from sleep or wakeful states and the Presence being interior in these states natural or induced.

13.

Life of the senses robs one of the sleep state which is a dynamic mode for those conscious of the presence. It helps mysticism flower in them.

14.

Mysticism of St. Paul:whether we live …or die, we are the Lords.'(Rom.14:8) For a Christian this is integrated life experience.

Best part of an evening for me is that there is a bed to sleep on at the end.

I know my will power is such that I need not command each night: Let there be sleep!’ Getting between the sheets is enough. I keep as with all creatures under the Nature’s sway its rule; I cannot escape bio-rhythm that makes mere routine of bedtime. Be that as it may,the routine has made claim or my will has a preference holds no meaning.
What I know is that there are some events happening below threshold level which is at cellular level, for my rational mind to grasp fully. But its efficiency I must admit at any rate allows me to focus on matters that my corporal body can adequately handle. I do have an office space. Is it a hole in the wall of universe or a negative space as the hole of a doughnut I cannot say. Unknown to me throughout the night my central archive systems are busy rearranging and fixing, labelling, retrieving lost files. This is where my memory is fixed. All roads lead to Rome. So do all the cables, filaments, streams of consciousness hanging from the beams and touch the floorboards that is on Time-Space coordinates. No wonder I know there is always something remarkable about my memory. It carries the distilled flavors of Time and Space and I can for the lack of adequate vocabulary merely label it as Consciousness.
More experience I have acquired I am more than convinced that memory is made up of discrete packets of information held in the hollows of Consciousness as honey in a comb.
Memory thus brings faith of my fathers and cultural milieu of lives lived in the past potent forces to work with. Thus when I who was born and brought up in India most of my life spend quarter of a century in a work that is hatched elsewhere I know why. My attitudes and my faith in my own memory makes me appreciate Omar Khayyam better. Such Consciousness that works on my memory may present many options and my preferences map course of my future that is all.
Sleep signifies an unconscious state in contrast with the wakeful state. Night is often used by poets as metaphor for death. Sleep is a realm where for a Christian is more than nature’s cure for human existence but a sign of hope. It is resurrective power that raised Jesus from death signifying hope, nothing less. What shall we make of insomnia then? I presume value of it as natural as skepticism that can rack a good Christian at times.

Before beginning was Consciousness

Shall we begin with words?

Sense shall serve us for stars

In their birth in the nursery of Knowing;

Red dwarves or worm holes

Make no sense till we dandle them-

Theorems are fine and logic holds

While our very sense is lost

in the tangle of semantics.

In the beginning was Word

What is Consciousness

Unless named at some point?

From where we range our inside out

Past Stars, and Time

Shall we name our stars as our very being?

The fruity smell of a banana is on account of a chemical substance, ester. It is distinct from that of a pineapple. Three carbons and six hydrogen in a molecular structure give its distinctive signature. Ethyl caprylate or amyl acetate is created when molecules are compounded in a correct sequence. With it each substance would have acquired its distinct personality or signature smell as well.
A geometrical recognition of molecules among themselves is implied for ester to be distinct from ethyl caprylate. A ‘virtual’ consciousness. Virtual in the sense it is imaginary and yet allowed. If ethyl caprylate is boiled in water, ester falls apart to produce alcohol and caprylate acid. Ester is insoluble in water. If every test follows predictably we must concede these molecules do carry some sort of awareness. A virtual consciousness.
My thoughts wing on the ubiquitous molecules of Cosmos and these are like bottled messages found floating but how I am found (or read) is not known. I know these fill out a profile who and what I am. The least I can do is to be consistent. Ethyl Caprylate is created when molecules compounded in correct sequence. Similarly my thoughts and actions do hint basic characteristics or ‘soul.’
Be not afraid of men who can only kill your body and not your soul. One may kill you in the name of prophet or religion another for the good of the state. They always find reasons for it. What a waste of effort! Killing Socrates or Stephen did not stop their cause. Freedom of thought is still preserved from harm. Stephen was the martyr for the Apostolic Church. Think what a disservice the Church later did when it became organized into a megalith and synonymous with every evil practice? Men cannot touch your soul and it shall speak in your defence or accuse you of selling you for a little pomp and earthly glory.

Consciousness is what makes us what we are. We are homo sapiens, the wise ones.
We are conscious of our Self and our surroundings. If we aren’t conscious of ourselves can we be conscious of anything else? No. Our wisdom is therefore in that consciousness.
A candle flame goes out when there is no oxygen. When we cut off air the flame goes out. It is conscious of the fact. How did the flame know? There is a kind of consciousness that a flame can employ. It is virtual consciousness. Virtual in the sense it is non-existent but allowed for the purpose.
We have consciousness that is active and we use to adjust our conduct accordingly. Thus we have a public persona and another when alone. Animals also are conscious and active too. They hunt in pairs because they know their success rate in a kill would be higher. We are the wise ones because we have thousand tricks up in our sleeve that we can tame animals that are more powerful than we are. The animals use instinct and we think and become what we want to become. Or we are conscious of ourselves and can lift us by the bootstraps as it were, to achieve our goals.
We also have another kind of consciousness of which we may not have given much thought. When we are asleep we dream and at REM phase(rapid eye movement)  Why do we move eyes if we are unconscious? There is another kind of consciousness at work here. It is an universal consciousness which envelop all and also the Cosmos. Cosmic Mind, it is called. Man thinks therefore he is at home in that mind. Those who believe in God(or Allah or any other) may read it as follows: I think therefore I am in His mind.
Thus when one prays in a right spirit his or her prayers do not fall by the wayside but are instead, written in The Book of Remembrance.’
