Sale of the book is peaking. Both paper back and ebook are doing well. I owe thanks to many readers who look beyond name and appreciate fine poetry. If I succeeded I owe thanks to those who believed in me and encouraged. Thanks,

Our universe has an inescapably bleak, desolate fate.

Ludwig Boltzmann was one of the founders of the field of thermodynamics in the nineteenth century. One of the key concepts was based on the second law of thermodynamics. In a closed system as in our universe there is a certain disorder. This means that, given enough time, the most likely state of the universe is one where everything is the in thermodynamic equilibrium. But we clearly don’t exist in a universe of this type since, after all, there is order all around us in various forms, not the least of which is the fact that we exist.

Boltzmann invoked using humans as an analogy.  He explained why we wouldn’t find ourselves in one of the very common equilibrium phases: In equilibrium, life cannot exist. Clearly, what we want to do is find the most common conditions within such a universe that are hospitable to life. But brains are not inert but self aware of life around and of planets galaxies beyond. Why go to other planets take our earth for instance. Are  we not conscious of other life forms? It is in human makeup to compete with others and to influence or change others. Man with his abstract thinking shall formulate ideas and struggle to validate his ideas over others, Even so he cannot escape the laws of thermodynamics

Boltzmann’s brains are the overwhelming majority of intelligences in this multiverse . According to him these will be lonely, disembodied brains, who fluctuate gradually out of the surrounding chaos and then gradually dissolve back into it. Such sad creatures have been dubbed “Boltzmann brains” by Andreas Albrecht and Lorenzo Sorbo.

Science Notes: entropy

Here is a recent news item: Pope Says World’s Many Conflicts Amount To Piecemeal World War ThreeIf Pope said so you can be sure WW IV will be bloodier than WWIII with men on the street at each other’s throat, head slicing, sucker punching. Look at war: earlier a battle was joined on a plain where the greatest commanders like Alexander, Julius Caesar or Napoleon had a clear strategy. Bravery of soldier was in his understanding what was expected of him and his own physical courage. Even so laws of entropy demonstrate how Napoleon’s Grand Army was decimated in Moscow. A well knit strategy is an order descending into chaos. Thus Napoleon for his brilliant strategy had to fall. In his case an early Winter had set in and he and his army had no choice but to retreat. General Winter was one among many imponderables that conspired against him.

While we speak of war do we not see even war has undergone changes? Art of War has lost its stomach for a single eyeball to eyeball confrontation. It is piecemeal. Entropy of order descending into chaos. Arrow for time shows in the case of war as well. Alexander of Macedon now would be in thick of waging urban guerilla warfare.

Within a closed system as in our universe or in man there is a measure of the amount of disorder within a system. man made organisations consequently suffer disorder. Think of the early Christian church with the modern churches around the world. Religions show this dilution of cardinal virtues that prophets emphasised at the founding of their belief-systems. Apostles have given way for charismatic TV preachers advocating prosperity theology to milk the congregation. It is more a seat of Satan.  IS fighting under the banner of Islam has not even an iota of the religion of peace as its apologists would brazenly claim.

Our body in breaking apart through ageing shows a disorder within a closed system. *Boltzmann’s brains descending into collective memory. Books are an author’s best bet to fight the arrow for time hitting its mark. Boltzmann’s brain marks an arrow for time. Whereas the author while his body hits the dust, reinvented himself as an idea in another. Ideas shall keep morphing into many guises. Communism has gone but it was in the 80s as liberation theology in the Central and South America.

* I shall explain it in another post.
