How do we worship God? Are we paying lip service or ‘communing with all my heart’? It is what worshiping in spirit and truth means-b


As meditations we have been studying the manner the Spirit has annotated songs of praise which the nation of Israel took as part of their tradition. They had learned how to accompany their recital with timbrel, the psaltery and their worship no doubt gave an aura of respectability before the pagan nations. But did they merely give lip service to the orthodoxy or sing with all their heart? Pagans vainly repeating prayers are different from a child of God addressing Heavenly Father in total trust. Israel backslid from their first love and as Prophet Isaiah faulted them, “Wherefore the Lord said, Forasmuch as this people draw near me with their mouth, and with their lips do honour me, but have removed their heart far from me, and their fear toward me is taught by the precept of men:(Is.29:13)”
