Death frightens people so many want to strike hot while the sun shines; they eat drink and make merry. All these are to escape death but that often makes us miss the point. Make the day count and eternity will take care of itself. So vanity of death is what makes you play the fool instead of being a man-b


Superscription reads as a maschil of Heman the Ezrahite. He is called the seer of David (1 Chr,25:5-6) and as with sons of Korah  belonged to a clan of Kohathite.

This psalm is a song of lamentation, a dirge and it is vanitas the Latin for vanity which is not in the usual sense as the Preacher would essay in the Book of Ecclesiastes. Instead let us consider this verse,”Man that is born of a woman is of few days and full of trouble(Job 14:1)”. The first verse of the Psalm helps us to understand its significance and it is addressed to ‘Lord God of my salvation.’ He is the God of the living so vanity in this context is the vanity of death.
