“But Christ being come an high priest of good things to come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building; (v.11)”

Priestly service was performed daily in the first part of the tabernacle while the High Priest once a year,- and it was with fear he went into the Holiest in the Day of Atonement. The sons of Aaron were struck dead in the midst of offering strange fires (Le.10:1-3). If Aaron’s sons were not spared it must have struck those who entered the Most Holy Place to be most circumspect about their own state. He promised thus,”And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son./ If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it (John 14:13-14).”. Father may be glorified in the Son makes this Fellowship vivid for the perfect sacrifice he offered in his body (‘For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified’-He.10:14). In heaven we have an emblem in the Lamb slain…

The people who received the law were considered the firstborn as Moses informed the Pharaoh.  It was God who put words in his mouth,”And thou shalt say unto Pharaoh, Thus saith the Lord, Israel is my son, even my firstborn:(Ex.4:23)” This was in the divine Will and we read that God had warned Abraham of his descendants as strangers in a land that is not theirs, and shall serve them; and they shall afflict them four hundred years; (Ge.15:13-16)’ The nation of Israel stood in relation to the Son whom God would send in fulness of time.

“The Lord hath sworn, and will not repent, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchizedek.(Ps.110:4)”  Melchizedek was an emblem for them on earth indicating an order that was greater than that of Aaron. The writer to the Hebrews in the preceding verses argue on the basis of people…
