The word that came to Jeremiah from the Lord, after that Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard had let him go from Ramah, when he had taken him being bound in chains among all that were carried away captive of Jerusalem and Judah, which were carried away captive unto Babylon.

And the captain of the guard took Jeremiah, and said unto him, The Lord thy God hath pronounced this evil upon this place.

Now the Lord hath brought it, and done according as he hath said: because ye have sinned against the Lord, and have not obeyed his voice, therefore this thing is come upon you.

And now, behold, I loose thee this day from the chains which were upon thine hand. If it seem good unto thee to come with me into Babylon, come; and I will look well unto thee: but if it…

The first six verses concern with the fate of King Zedekiah which God had already determined upon.

Who can thwart God’s will? “For the LORD of hosts hath purposed, and who shall disannul it? and his hand is stretched out, and who shall turn it back?(Is.14:27)” Jeremiah was one man chosen to serve as God’s oracle. God had put his words in his mouth thereby indicating who really owned him. His liberty was determined on that point alone. If he could not be true to what God had entrusted him with the eternal word, where would he go to redeem himself?

We are all disciples in a manner of speaking. Truth in our inward parts attests the path to righteousness through the word of God. We live according to the revealed word.  Discipleship of a child of God is to safeguard himself from losing the key to true riches…

This portion we are considering at present is the end times, the point to which all nations of this world are heading. Core Will of God includes both heaven and the earth. Salvation Plan of God is not static but all events in heaven and on earth are leading to it. Power and Wisdom of God rules out all accidents or coincidence from shaping of human history, We may glimpse its nature for which we shall quote this vision of John and is ushered from heaven.  “And the seventh angel sounded; and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign for ever and ever (Re.11:15) ”  Will and Fulfillment point to Father Son relationship and works at tandem.  For example we read in the creation account how God willed,’Let there be…

“The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much(Jas.5:16)”.Prayer of Elias is given as an example in the following verse. It was not what came out of King David. God found him a man after his heart because He is righteous and any man who seeks to please him must know what He does require from him. David knew just that. He was far from righteous and apart from some serious failings he still clung to him only on that slender thread of trust. Who shall not be moved from his heartfelt cry “The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise(Ps.51:17).   Prayer of a child of God is based on trust and faith is the common currency. No cryptocurrency or dud when one seeks God. Like the prodigal son on return straight from the heart. Trust between…

The Lord of hosts used here in a sense indicating His proper sphere having a throne and various agencies at his command. When we speak of the angel of the Lord or of his presence it is what indicates His sovereign lordship over heaven and the earth. (Ps.89:5-8; 148:2; Mt.26:53). In the v.35 Prophet Jeremiah ascribes the name to realities of the earth as with everything to Power and Wisdom. Holy is his his name and so is the earth, though qualified as his footstool. If such is the case what are we to make of rampant wickedness we see about us? Has God abandoned it so evil is accepted as the new norm? And the more wicked as they come, they are received with great fuss and media coverage and they lord over the common folks. It is not God of hosts to blame because Truth written in our…

“At the same time, saith the Lord, will I be the God of all the families of Israel, and they shall be my people(v.1)”. The expression as used by the Spirit refers to the latter times mentioned in the ch.30, v.24. What does one make of ‘all the families of Israel’ to which the Spirit has supplied us a clue? In order to understand it we shall here consider the significance of being the first born and in another post get an insight into the narrative mode of the Spirit.

Ephraim, was the second son of Joseph and when we check the death bed scene the blessings of Jacob conferred on his sons it becomes clear: it was not as though the patriarch passing on his blessing on the same traditions of a nomadic society in the Ancient world but the blessings of God. His blessings to Abraham (Ge.12:3)…

The word that came to Jeremiah from the Lord, saying,

Thus speaketh the Lord God of Israel, saying, Write thee all the words that I have spoken unto thee in a book.

The Spirit annotates ‘the words that I have spoken unto thee in a book’ significance of which is to be understood in God’s Time and not in earth time “until he(God) hath done it, and until he have performed the intents of his heart:(v.24) ” Be that as it may it points to time of fulfillment of what God has willed. This time which in the Spirit’s parlance is marked as latter days. Compare it with ‘In the beginning ‘ of the creation account in the Book of Genesis. Deep purpose of God or His Will is unfathomable. The basket of rotten figs referred to those who rebelled against God’s command to accept chastisement of…
