Past Imperfect-2

Considering our middle state we do not begin our lives on a clean slate; instead we are carrying a world of genetic information along. Where it began or where it shall all end we cannot say. Human condition sets limits to our knowledge. For a Christian only God is endowed with Power and Wisdom in absolute sense.
With cosmic impacts shaping events on the earth we might say man is caught in the middle not realizing some parts of our globe are helped while some are destroyed. Atlantis is a case in point. So how do we settle on to anything? In our solar system we have planets orbiting around the sun. Meanwhile the sun the Milky Way has its own orbit. With so many objects moving about we require a rest frame to study motion of celestial objects relative to us. This is a frame of reference. It is thus we affix God as Absolute, ‘I changeth not.’ Our moral values and history keeps shifting so what we see now is a new normal and truth is transactional. We may say a lie is permissible but it is set in context of God. Thus we have God and his Word as the frame of reference.
From many passages in the Bible we are shown how God shall set up his kingdom. It signifies the end times.
The Book of Daniel narrates that King Nebuchadnezzar in a dream saw an image of world kingdoms. Head of the image was of fine gold, the breast and arms were of silver and so on. The quality of these governments progressively is shown inferior. The feet made up of iron and clay. Naturally the world powers are, by very design set up on a weak foundation. A stone is dropped out of nowhere smashing the image and nothing of it was to be seen. Instead the stone became a mountain filling the earth. Of this let us only take up the stone, which is dropped out of nowhere. A meteor striking like any cosmic impact is otherworldly, is it not? This dream interpreted by Daniel is a clue to the manner God shall set up his kingdom.
In the Bible we have several references of such impacts directly affecting historical events. In the Book of the Judges we have almost an identical event. On the eve of a war with the Midianites one soldier is narrating his dream to another and Gideon is overhearing as arranged by God. One barley cake comes out of nowhere and tumbles into the enemy camp smashing them. As intended Gideon is ready to fight. Gideon became a hero as a result. This leads us to what happened to one of his sons Abimelech, the son from a maid. He had to kill his brethren, 70 of them before he could reach this position. Because of his treachery and wickedness his end came in a most dramatic manner. He came before a tower and he was there to punish those who held out. One woman dropped a millstone on him. He died. (Jud.9)
This event is identical with the millstone thrown by an angel to punish Babylon, which is a label for any great harbour city. It could be New York, Shanghai, Singapore or Dubai. The point is the manner it is done. “And a mighty angel took up a great millstone and cast it into the sea..(Rev.18:21)” triggering the end of the city. This is how we make sense of the word of God. Narrative passages from beginning to the end are consistent in spirit. Man without God is heading for disaster while man who follows peace shall be secure in the kingdom of God as and when set up.
It is news while some would say it is fake news. Man is at liberty to choose what he will but one day all the lies shall be called out.

Jesus compares one  who hears him but does not do accordingly to a foolish man who built his house upon the sand.  Such are the churches where believers come to worship. It is a house but not the church Jesus had in mind. (Mt.16:18) And the rains descended so did the floods but what chance has a house built upon the sand? Visitations of disasters sometimes are reminders of man’s foolishness. No church shall survive but the church built upon the foundation of Jesus Christ. There is only one Church and whatever we are building are not for ourselves but to be found when He reveals it according to the will of God. Jesus as the Word made flesh has given us the indwelling Spirit with which to build according to exact fit. Thus we build up our lives. He who searches our hearts shall know who we are. Where we fit in is for the Lord to determine but our blessedness is that we are connected to the Body and the Head is our Christ Jesus.  They boy whose five loaves and two fishes fed so many in  the eyes of Jesus Christ is as vital as the work of St Paul. Small or little,- the fall of sparrow is before God who created it.  Two mites of the widows are of far greater value than megachurches with out love of Christ. Why? She gave all she had to live upon. Hypocrisy Ananias an Sapphira lives still.

In Christ Jesus we are all His workmanship so are we reflecting the love of Christ in our service as well in our being?  When we see the mega churches and TV preachers all vying to be seen and wondered at on the earth we need to keep our wits about. They have their places as we have our place. The Bible is very clear. God is not mocked.

The Scripture is a God document. As such it is ‘from God to man’. The Holy Spirit set the divine Will and its Fulfillment in human speech not for God but for man. If there be Aliens the Scripture would be transposed to a medium that they can profit from it. “And there are also many things which Jesus did, the which, if they should be written everyone…even the world itself could not contain the books that should be written (Jn.21:25)  ” John’s testimony is true. The Spirit’s preface in the vs.24 ought to make us aware who is behind the gospels.

The Spirit is the Prime Mover and he is the Spirit of truth. I need not seek Calvin or Luther to tell me what Love of God should mean. Luther sided with the Establishment in 1526, It merely gave the Nazi moment a handle to make the German Protestant churches give Mein Kampf  same honor as the Bible. When I see the manner false teachers now tout Prosperity theology I see the rack and ruin left by Calvin.  Do they sound like having the mind of Christ? Do they practice what Jesus taught, enjoining us to do?  The church is the body of Jesus Christ. Do we see it in the US or in Europe? When the one percent of the nation has got the wealth in America and the prosperity theology drives the believers it is a sign. To compound the evil they have even taken the place of God! They judge the lifestyles of others less fortunate than they in circumstances. They remind me of the rich dives in the parables. Never mind the sores licked by dogs. (Has not your wealth blinded you? Within are many sins because love of God has gone cold. You may dine with your fellow travelers, brethren of selfsame strip. You may be far right or of Moral majority. When you damn abortion and LGBT it is all covered in the media. But do you think you will escape judgment of God?) The first epistle of Peter speaks about judgment of God and it must begin with the his House (1Pe.1). When I read Hurricanes Harvey,  Irma making their landfall I fear that the worse is yet to come.

My, my,- the churches are now political! People like Pat Robertson or Jerry Falwell endorse their candidate but is it for the glory of God or for Mammon? . Their circumstances are flashy and their prosperity is as unchecked as the growth of cancerous cells in the body, Their public image is persuasive and their wealth beguiling, swallowing up unsuspecting believers **Are they different from the church at Thyatira? Doctrine of Jezebel was authorized by King Ahab (or the President in keeping with the present times) and it achieved results. Political clout of these false teachers similarly shapes the trends so churches are in a manner of speaking hand in glove with political parties of the land.

What doctrines you follow make who you are. Calvin’s wrong understanding was  behind Limited Atonement a cardinal virtue of Calvinism. Think of such heresies of Calvin any other morphing across the centuries into what we get now. Europe at the time of Calvin was changing.  A new class,- the mercantile class had became a force to reckon with following the Age of Exploration. Calvin was aware of the role money played in shaping the ethics of Christianity and it has been so. You shall see how a slight disconnect with the Savior Lord can become a travesty of Core values of Jesus? Like the weak copy in DNA owing to some mutation his TULIP was flawed. It hurts.

The Bible is inerrant. Naturally the narrative carries symbols, signs, allegories and other literary devices that are solely for our benefit. Purpose of the Bible is clear: any one who reads and believes in the scriptures may be made perfect, being thoroughly furnished unto all good works. (2Ti.3: 16-17).

Note:

**How Christianity in the US has become political since the late 1970s is a clear demonstration of the above. The many labels of the Right wing evangelical movement found their party to keep their Protestant identity. Into the 1960 election, Catholics and evangelicals worked against each other, as evangelicals mobilized their forces to defeat Catholics Al Smith in 1928 and they tried again without success  against John F Kennedy in 1960. Secularization came to be seen by Protestants as the biggest threat to Christian values, however, and by the 1980s Catholic bishops and evangelicals had begun to work together on issues such as abortion. Here we see churches once set themselves on foundations other than Christ the Head can multiply by momentum that works by the Prince of the power of the air. These children of Balaam readily speak of Christian values. They have a form of godliness but denying the power of God. It is not mere coincidence that they backed Donald Trump in 2016. According to a an article ‘Trump—a thrice-married, biblically illiterate sexual predator(The New Republic-March 20, 2017) and is it because Trump will make America to their liking or because His example shall fill churches in the land with all the believers ? (ack: wikipedia)

There is only one faith; there is only one body. One God and Father of all (Ep.4:1-6)

‘Can Evangelicals regain their clout after election losses?’ reads one news headline.  I cannot help thinking what the founder of Christianity would have said had he lived now among us. ‘My kingdom is not of this world,’ said he when he was hauled up before Pilate. Who was Pontius Pilate but a Roman who served the interests of Imperial Rome? Evangelicals these days have taken on themselves to do the hatchet job for powers that be. ‘If my kingdom were of this world then would my servants fight’. If the Evangelicals had no vested interest in serving this party or another  they should have no problem whichever side won or lost. They merely exercised their rights as good citizens. That is all. The so called clout attributed to them smells bad , as explosive mixture as God and mammon.
In Obama’s landslide victory it goes with out saying in an election fairly won, which represented American values,-a party that was retrogressive or one that stood for changes?
