This fragment is taken from my current project: it traces my spiritual journey across the landscape of the Scripture. No polemics, no sermons but the dream bound within the dream we call life, and must be set forth in clarity, It is surreal but that iis the way phantasmagorical view our innerman presents as we dream. What else can justify but in an epic format? In recreating this work I am not following Divine Comedy but of my own understanding: knowledge of the holy. I find an angel to show me around, who is my other half, heavenly spirit: There is only single measurement, man/angel so the city of God is the ‘Holy Grail” I am seeking. I have done 4 cantos and this fragment related to the last. Some 90+ cantos yet to go. By 2026 year end I hope to complete the work.

The poem is in tercets, imitating Dante’s terza rima as much as possible. The poet finds himself lost since his spirit guide on a sudden errand is away-benny

In craven fear without my angel, I am lost

In this soul’s blackout, What little can I do?

3.

A mischief by false angels must instant remedy,

As cold breath my hope in the gloom was lost.

4.

As with dream in wipe-out o’ time, one is ready

To believe the lost cause as my eyes espied

Seven blurs of light, march from far but steady;

5.

A disembodied menorah, Ah me, vied

For the all too recurring sign reappear

The seam of gold now double bright blazing wide;

6.

Out of the welter of wild surmises and fear

My mind in throes moulted wings, the eagle wings

The blackness was o’er, in flurry of hope thrown rear.

7.

‘I was sent over’ the lampstand whirling rings

Around my mental disarray to recall the voice

‘Cross the expanse of celestial beings or things?
