The Spirit sets the ark as foreshadow of believer called to be elect. All those who have made a covenant by sacrifice are similarly shut in (Ge.7:16) The believer is insulated from corruption within and without.

The ark is made of gopher-wood but just the same it is to be laid by faith. God similarly specified the Ark of the Covenant (Ex.25:10-11) overlaid with pure gold. Instead of bitumen or pitch our faith must repel the blandishments the world throws against us. Besides our faith must rest in the divine Promises.’ He rewards those who earnestly seek him.’ (He.11:6)

It took 120 days to construct the ark. We are to be conformed in the likeness of the Son. 40×3 where three is the command number for the Son. The ark was three stories high. Our body, soul and spirit are to be wholly circumscribed by the mind of the Son…

‘One Lord, one faith one baptism’ are several shades of single Gospel the bulwark for which is the Law as constitution so God, a Spirit who sets heaven and the earth as one. Unity of the Spirit is the process with which the word does its reconciliation. 2 Co.4:6.

Firstly the will of God where the Son completes what has been determined according to time and place. Unity of the Spirit gives the word its unassailable power.

The heart opens a highway to the throne of Grace where any man may see the Lord and be found. Christ standing at the door and knocks.’Behold I stand at the door and knock’(Re.3:20)’. “For you did not receive a spirit that makes you a slave again to fear, but you received the Spirit of sonship. And by him we cry,’Abba,Father'(Ro.8:15).”. Paul tells the Galatians that Christians were redeemed from the law so…

Thus did Zimri destroy all the house of Baasha, according to the word of the Lord, which he spake against Baasha by Jehu the prophet./For all the sins of Baasha, and the sins of Elah his son, by which they sinned, and by which they made Israel to sin, in provoking the Lord God of Israel to anger with their vanities.” (vv.12-13)

We have been studying in these couple of chapters how manner the house of Israel went about consolidating their house under Jeroboam. He placed two golden calves one at Bethel and one at Dan instead of the one the people set up at Mount Sinai.

“s there a thing of which it is said,
    “See, this is new”?
It has been already
in the ages before us.(Ec.1:11-ESV). The wise king goes on to say, “I made great works. I built houses and planted vineyards for myself. I made myself gardens and…

When Jesus declares ‘Before Abraham, I was’ (John 8:58) he said it on the basis that he was the visible image of the invisible God. Secondly he was the Word made flesh (John 1:1). His presence therefore went beyond what significance was associated with theophany and symbolism of natural world (‘the spiritual Rock was Christ’), has their time and place. Upholding all things by the word of his power, the Son is a faithful witness of his Father. Disciples on account of it discovered the risen Christ by the breaking of bread. (Luke 23:32). Similarly Mary at the sepulcher recognized the resurrected Christ by his voice.(John 20:18). What connected the voice of the Lord with Christ explains the power of the word.

The beginning of the age yet to come or ending of the age merge in Christ who is the brightness of His glory.(See under Aalpha and…

Apostasy is falling away from the faith that is first made manifest by God. He foreknew man in his Son so God may dwell among His people. Nations one after other were called to be as holy as He was.

Satan first revealed the nature of apostasy. “I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High./Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit.(Is.14:14-15)”. Instead of the Word that is eternally settled in the heavens he would decide the outcome by force of his will. In short apostasy is defined as defection from the faith, an act of unpardonable rebellion against God.

An apostate rejecting truth has a reprobate mind as the two who rebelled against Moses, ‘so do these also withstand the truth; men corrupted in mind, reprobate concerning the faith’. It is thus heresies are established…

Now in the eighteenth year of king Jeroboam the son of Nebat reigned Abijam over Judah./ Three years reigned he in Jerusalem. and his mother’s name was Maachah, the daughter of Abishalom (15:1-2)

In the Book of the Kings we have the name of the king of Judah as Abijam while in the Book of Chronicles the same is spelt as Abijah which is significant. Yam is a Canaanite sea god. In one we have the name to mean Yam is my father while Abijah would mean Yahweh is my father,. This is how the Spirit instructs us to warn the modern churches. “No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon(Matt.6:24). The Spirit gives God document from two standpoints that of the…

The first and last letters of the Greek alphabet, used in the Book of the Revelation and Apostle John sums up the first verse. “The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, to shew unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass; and he sent and signified it by his angel unto his servant John:

Hence, he refers to Jesus Christ as ‘beginning and ending (Re.1:8)” These two words are used in conjunction to mean that in him rest the Ages before and yet to come. “He made known to us the mystery of his will according to his good pleasure, which he purposed in Christ,/ To be put into effect when the times reach their fulfillment—to bring unity to all things in heaven and on earth under Christ.(Ep.1:9-10-NIV)”

“I am the Way”. (John 14:6)

Then king Asa made a proclamation throughout all Judah; none was exempted: and they took away the stones of Ramah, and the timber thereof, wherewith Baasha had builded; and king Asa built with them Geba of Benjamin, and Mizpah. (v.22)

Because of sin the kingdom of Israel was divided, and were Judah and Israel happily settled on account of it? Baasha king of Israel spent much of his reign planning how to destroy his rival kingdom. He built Ramah in order to block the movements of the people of Judah. This brought up Asa to neutralize Baasha by forging an alliance with Benhadad king of Syria.

Asa bribes Benhadad with treasures of the house of the Lord pleading, “Come and break thy league with Baasha king of Israel, that he may depart from me..”This must have been somewhat like the Ping-pong diplomacy during the Nixon years. Making a deal…

The Spirit in expressing the unalterable Will of God the Father must throw light on the day that is decreed for the Son. ‘This day have I begotten thee’. How does the Spirit describe creative process of the Son with the will of his Father. Mode of expression therefore has several ‘figures of speech’ hloding Will and fulfillment together.

Certain formulae are set down as a refrain in between a narrative cycle. For instance while setting down the creation account the Spirit expresses first day ending thus, ”And the evening and the morning were the second day”(Ge.1:8) It refers to heaven and the earth has same phrasing to indicate the third day (1:13).

How God garnished the heaven with stars which is part of his ways  is as distinct as His setting the cornerstone for the earth. “Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the earth? declare, if…

And Asa did that which was right in the eyes of the Lord, as did David his father.

Asa could not have been perfect towards his God if he had not put his mother where she belonged. “And a man’s foes shall be they of his own household.(Matt.10:36)” Asa’s mother was somewhat like Queen Helena the mother of Constantine I. She had her own court and clique, hangers on to cary on palace intrigue and her meddling had unleashed so a man of God like Athanasius would be hounded and false charges foisted n him so much so he saw himself against the world. Athanasius contra mundum. Was Arianism a little error to be let fester in the body of Christ?. Its poison is still working and heresies of present day Christianity has been the tares sown while men slept. These shall grow along with good seed till the harvest…
