Bible Study-1 Ki.3:16-28 “Parable of one house”

The Spirit is laying out a parable from a case that came up before King Solomon. God heard the prayer of Solomon and gave exceptional wisdom, which was as v.28 explains, ‘the wisdom of God was in him, to do judgment.’

“And all Israel heard of the judgment which the king had judged; and they feared the king: for they saw that the wisdom of God was in him, to do judgment(v.28)”.

‘I and this woman dwell in one house’-v.17

Two harlots live in one house which is annotated by St Paul as two laws warring within one’s members.”Even harlots practice their trade by law. So St Paul speaks of a a law that would ply her trade after her ‘inner man’ and it is the child that becomes the point of controversy. Prayer of Solomon instructs us to put on the mind of Christ. Thus Solomon would not want to be a clone of his father but becomes the a double of the Son. It is the Law.

Solomon prays to God so he may walk before him in truth, and in righteousness. God gives an understanding heart to which there is nothing of David but of the Christ in him so uprightness is how his heart is formed by his daily walk. “He will sit as a refiner and a purifier of silver; He will purify the sons of Levi, And purge them as gold and silver, That they may offer to the LORD An offering in righteousness(Mal.3:3-NKJV).One may call it chastisement or discipline but if God did not spare his own Son you may be sure love in His holiness is to refine so you pass for his double in…

An understanding heart is like faith, which must be backed by works. The Spirit while providing two narrative strands from that of God the Father and of the Son indicates the will of the Father. ‘Lo I come to do do thy will.’ God creating the heaven and earth was done in faith with which God expressed his holiness. He.11:3. Creative faith of the Father is nothing but giving a body to what expresses His mind.

Key to faith is with the role of the Word of God which is person specific. Theological term logos principle explains it. By way of preface we shall consider this.

vv.1-4

“And Solomon made affinity with Pharaoh king of Egypt, and took Pharaoh’s daughter, and brought her into the city of David, until he had made an end of building his own house, and the house of the Lord, and the wall of Jerusalem round about.

Only the people sacrificed in high places, because there was no house built unto the name of the Lord, until those days.³ And Solomon loved the Lord, walking in the statutes of David his father: only he sacrificed and burnt incense in high places./ And the king went to Gibeon to sacrifice there; for that was the great high place: a thousand burnt offerings did Solomon offer upon that altar(vv.1-4)”.
