And a mighty angel took up a stone like a great millstone, and cast it into the sea, saying, Thus with violence shall that great city Babylon be thrown down, and shall be found no more at all.

Here we see the angel making use of the symbolism of millstone to overthrow the great city of Emblematic of the pride of man. The tower of Babel was one such. Introducing it early on the Holy Spirit set a warning to the diligent reader of the Holy Writ.

People make the city so casting the stone into the sea is tantamount to smashing the great city.

The angel refers to violence in his act. It is payback time. The Holy Spirit explains,”Rejoice over her, thou heaven, and ye holy apostles and prophets; for God hath avenged you on her.” (v.20). This would mean that the saints redeemed from the earth…

“And after these things I saw another angel come down from heaven, having great power; and the earth was lightened with his glory.” (v.1)

This angel is different than the angel mentioned in v.21. “And a mighty angel took up a stone like a great millstone, and cast it into the sea, saying, Thus with violence shall that great city Babylon be thrown down, and shall be found no more at all.”

In order to understand how these two angels connect we need go back to the verse in the preceding chapter. “For God hath put in their hearts to fulfil his will, and to agree, and give their kingdom unto the beast, until the words of God shall be fulfilled.” (17:17)

Now choose life, so that you and your children may live.”(De.30:19-NIV)’

Now is the day of Salvation is about the day specified in the above quote. “And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment.”(He.9:27) The preacher speaks of the time in terms of what man might do and what he cannot even if he had a mind…

And the angel said unto me, Wherefore didst thou marvel? I will tell thee the mystery of the woman, and of the beast that carrieth her, which hath the seven heads and ten horns./ The beast that thou sawest was, and is not; and shall ascend out of the bottomless pit, and go into perdition: and they that dwell on the earth shall wonder, whose names were not written in the book of life from the foundation of the world, when they behold the beast that was, and is not, and yet is.”(vv.7-8)

In Ch.12 we saw the red dragon,”and behold a great red dragon, having seven heads and ten horns, and seven crowns upon his heads.”(12:3) The beast is yet another.”And saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns,” Here we see the…
