“And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea./ And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.”
As with other visions mentioned in this book we need remember that he was in the Spirit so what he records is verbatim through the eyes of the Holy Spirit as it were. “I was in the Spirit on the Lord’s day”(1:10). So John still in his world of the flesh records the bride not as made up spiritual bodies but in terms of Jerusalem as existing. The body of Christ is spiritual Jerusalem with an adjective ‘new’. This New Jerusalem descends from heaven. By the same token in v. 26 we read,”And they shall bring the glory…
