 Envy thou not the oppressor, and choose none of his ways. (v.31)

Who is an oppressor? Wisdom from above is all about peace and maintaining it. In the previous post we considered a virtuous woman. God is not the author of confusion or of discord. “Her ways are ways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace.(v.17). St James warns us how one may see Satan at work. “For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work.(Jas.3:16)” Whoever sins he is a servant of Satan. “Now a slave has no permanent place in the family, but a son belongs to it forever(John 8:34-35)”. What we see in our times prove the verse given below:

Here we are considering the household of a man who retains wisdom his companion. She is the virtuous woman of who we read in 31:10-31. “Thy wife shall be as a fruitful vine by the sides of thine house: thy children like olive plants round about thy table(Ps.12*:3).

Here she is compared to a tree of life and we have in the Book of Psalms the extent of her reach. “And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper(Ps.1:3). She know where to find what she requires. For God founded the earth with wisdom (2:19) and it is what shapes her words and brings fruits of her hands.”She is like the merchants’ ships; she bringeth her food from afar(31:14).
